Where Does the CRC Exam Come From? CRCC Role and Function Study
Rehabilitation counselors are the only professional counselors educated and trained at the graduate level specifically to serve individuals with disabilities. Through a comprehensive and unique counseling process, rehabilitation counselors help individuals who have disabilities set and achieve their personal, career, and independent living goals. They are the bridge between individual and self-sufficiency, helping them to live fully integrated lives.
The Commission for Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) conducts a role and function study approximately every 5 years. These studies identify the tasks and work activities performed, the context in which those activities are carried out, and the competencies (knowledge areas, skills, and abilities) required to successfully perform an entry-level job in the field of rehabilitation counseling.
The results of the role and function studies are used to create the validated assessment of job competencies: the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Exam.
The role and function studies are published. You can download the Role and Function Study here
